Protecting Your Facial Eczema In The Sun
We learn more every day about the damaging effect the sun has on our skin. When you suffer from facial eczema, it can make the sun even more dangerous. This is why it is important to care for your face correctly if you are planning a day outside.
Ultra violet light is not always a bad thing. In fact, it is sometimes used to treat cases of face eczema and other skin conditions. However, sunshine is a very potent form of ultraviolet light that cannot be controlled. You can easily get too much sun in as little as 15 minutes.
When you step outside, make sure you have a wide brimmed hat on. Wearing a hat to shield your face from the skin is the absolutely best way to protect your face from sun damage. It is always better to keep the sun from reaching your skin versus having to limit exposure later.
You should also make sure you apply a sunscreen when you are outdoors. Even if you are only planning to be outside briefly, it is a good idea to have sunscreen available. Many people apply it in the morning, to make sure they are covered throughout the day. If you get sweaty or wet, you will have to reapply it. You may also want to keep sunscreen in your car, in case you must be outside unexpectedly.
Make sure you use a natural sunscreen. This will prevent you from getting further eczema from the chemicals in artificial sunscreens. Zinc is always a part of a contact dermatitis treatment and also makes an excellent natural sunscreen.
Finally, never underestimate the sun. It will be very easy for you to skip wearing sunscreen in the winter or on cloudy days. However, the ultraviolet rays can do as much damage through clouds as they can on a bright, clear day.
